When you need to attach equipment and gear in the field, a strong, durable tactical belt is essential.  Tactical belts are typically somewhat rigid which helps to prevent sagging and flipping. On the other hand, the need to be flexible enough not restrict movements.

A few things to consider when purchasing a tactical belt:

Material:  These types of belts are typically constructed from nylon with reinforced stitching which provides heavy-duty tensile strength. They are designed to be tear resistant and have the advantage of drying quickly when exposed to moisture. Some are designed with additional loops or holds to provide attachment points for specific types of gear.

Rigidity: Since tactical belts are designs to carry a variety of gear, it’s important they don’t pinch, sag, or twist. Belts that are very rigid tend to be less comfortable. You will want to consider that amount of equipment you will be carrying when deciding the rigidity of the belt you select.

Buckles: Buckles are most often constructed from plastic or metal. While buckles obviously need to be strong, they should also be easy to adjust when needed.  Some have the added convenience of a quick release which allows them to be disconnected by pushing clips or buttons. Ultimately your level of activity should be a deciding factor which choosing the right buckle.
